so! my week of paid vacation is over and it was awesome!
i went to the fjort a couple times for parties and fun... it was cool because it was warm like last summer... plus i smoked a joint for the first time in over a year... it was ok i guess
i found a place on oxford street and i'm moving in 2 weeks! it's a one bedroom and it's unbelievably beautiful and i'm fucking stoked to live by myself in such a nice place in such a nice neighbourhood
and on friday, christian, kerri, stacey, greg and i drove to montreal which was super super super solid!! we stayed at greg and jef and mackenzie's super awesome apartment and the night we arrived we had sweet sidewalk-and-boombox hangouts; then on saturday we went around the city-- it was my first time in montreal and i instantly fell totally in love, and i want to move there really bad; i bought records and ate food at various places, and the weather was really nice; i saw a show at casa del popolo by myself while the other cats were seeing blonde redhead; all the girls at the bar were unbelievably beautiful but totally not arrogant like the beautiful girls in halifax (probably because everybody is beautiful so they're not better than anyone else);
anyway it's been a great vacation
i think maybe i'll not get internet in the new place... i've not been using it very much and halifaxlocals is really annoying sometimes, with all the people in bands scavenging for shows at every opportunity, like vultures on a dead body, or personal injury lawyers in a hospital... and also facebook is really sad because i have to see how shitty all my schoolmates' lives are now
tuesday me and neal and jenny and lindsay went to value village and i bought a bunch of room decorations and i decorated my room with them, then christian and alfred and dale and marty came over to do the spincycle album art, and i cleaned the kitchen and the living room and my room (and my closet), and then me and mary watched rules of attraction
yesterday i went job hunting all afternoon, then went to supper at gus' with derrick and lindsay, and then lindsay and i just went around visiting people and hanging out, and bought salsa and dip and chips and ate lots of gross stuff
and today i brought my guitar to musicstop to get new strings and a whammy bar installed, and then the spincycle/scribbler/attackmode/coquephoques show was awesome!
and now i'm home
lately i cannot fucking construct sentences, everything i write is a huge run-on sentence
finally i am done with subway, after giving my 2 weeks, 3 weeks ago, i am done, my last shift was sunday and i am super glad i'm out of there
after hiring a nazi who puts people in the hospital and then makes me come in for shifts, then hiring a crackwhore who stole all our money and skipped town, i think i'm happy not to be a part of that anymore
and i think my sleep pattern has gone back to slightly normal-- a couple nights ago i had a nap at 8pm then woke up after midnight, and couldn't get back to sleep until 10 in the morning; then last night i went to bed at midnight and got up at 11, so i hope my body clock will now be like a normal human being
this week my life has been watching boy meets world and playing morrowind
last night i saw the special noise show at the one world, i keep forgetting how awesome they are (were)
i quit subway, the night hours are fucking with my head too much, i just want a day job, and somewhere closer to where i live, and something that isn't making food for assholes
dead hookers did a really fun show at the one world
i've had the last 3 days off and it has been fantastic
and just now fucking rocco jumped out our second story livingroom window and sprained his paw
today was the first day since the accident that i haven't been totally bummed out and upset
i was woken up by lindsay and newwave and neal and jenny, and then i went to taz and got some records, then went downtown to get a new bike!! my new bike is so sweet i am totaly stoked about it! it's a 1 speed and rides sooooo smooth
then i ran into ryan livingston and we hung out for a bit, and i bought some sweet cd's
then brian called me and said he had 2 extra tickets to american hardcore which started in the next 30 minutes, so i went to the paperchase to ask tobias if he wanted to come see it, and his boss let him off work to go
anyway american hardcore was awesome, tonnsssssss of people i know were there too
and then we went to gus' for gilbert switzer and taberfucks which was really awesome and full of energy and lots of fun!
it was an amazing day for everybody at the north st household,
i got up early and cleaned the entire bathroom.. there was a layer of grey mildew shit on the bathtub and it took me 45 minutes to get it all off, but now it's spotless
then i saw a note from mary saying "guys, clean the fucking kitchen" so i totally cleaned it all over, and then cleaned and vacuumed the living room
lindsay came over and her and jenny and neal and i went to taz and then to cousin's for lunch, and then i had a refreshing nap
THEN all of the residents worked together and cleaned the main hall and the front lobby so now the entire house is totally fucking ridiculously clean
and then on the way to rockin4dollars i went to work to pick up a cd i left there and i got my PAYCHECK which i wasn't expecting for another few days!!!!! unexpected 440 dollars is awesome!!!!!!
then rockin4dollars was good duuhh
anyway what else has been going on,
i actually really really like my job, i get to be alone, listening to my own music, reading a book, and making a few sandwiches,, and for the first time i actually care about my job, and doing a good job at it
except saturday night fucking SUCKED because all the dal students on pub crawls came and there was a lineup from 11pm to 3:30am nonstop and i almost passed out
other than that, nothing huge going on, just relaxing with neal most nights after work playing videogames and listening to music
gooooooooooooooooooooood times
oh and since summer is over i am allowing myself to listen to goth and industrial again, since last summer all i listened to was the stuff and now i have no nostalgic music that reminds me of that time, so i restricted myself this summer, i know it sounds stupid
well shit, i guess i'd better sum up my summer since it's now september
in chronological order
- got a job at subway - moved in to north st with shean mary and derrick - got fired from subway - got a job at superstore - started the dead hookers with craig - learned how to shoplift - did smart patrol at ckdu - cut my hair into what is apparently called a deathhawk - discovered hanging out on the roof - stayed up all night and all day with shean and travis watching 24 - quit superstore and remained unemployed for most of the summer - got my amazing bike, and broke it the day i got it - stayed up all night with shean and brett and swan at chocolate lake - lots of fucking barbeques!!!!!!!!!!!! - more barbeques - lots of shows - lots of parties at our house - barbeques at our house - barbeque parties at our house - buying way too much music - brian moving in, then neal moving in - got a job at subway again
anyway it has been probably the best summer ever for me, for serious, i met so many incredible people and had so many totally amazingly sweet times
can't even put it into sentences but this summer was AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i haven't been up on the new music these days, so i decided to download a bunch of new releases, and after listening to each album i find myself repeatedly disappointed with this year's (and the past few years') music
sure, having weird instruments and weird mishmashes of styles and being "experimental" is all fine and good, but how about some good melodies or solid songwriting
